The song is inspired by the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, and is about building your future after having to sacrifice the old foundation.
lyrics
Verse 1: Swamburger
In a place this big, little ideas have a huge impact
But often the cost to toss them in a plot with awesome interaction, work,
force of worth, and a course of life path adds a bit of bite back.
I’m OK with that.
Prepared for danger that
reveals itself as a risk towards the quest for greatness at
high levels- Whenever I test my limits to build.
Shield nothing but the will to stop.
Drop the doubt. Reroute, work and move the plot.
In the middle of the road
failure peaks around the bridge of my stroll
Alerts my senses
to question is this
the best intended invention to venture existence
when I want progress.
And I want progress.
I’m willing to dissect every little inch of real estate, or prospect.
I trust the process highly.
Kindly obliged to play by the rules of findings.
Don’t pretend to be a source of wise
if you ain’t got a vision of your own demise.
I won’t repeat my defeat.
Leave me to it to rethink, retreat, yet relink each weak piece to surface
from a new base safe from merchants,
who praise the purchase, but wave upkeep.
Sleep well my lost friend, fade to black sheep.
Cheat each belief, and awake the worthless.
Seek means to lead, or disgrace the work shift.
Tweak these to peace any strain, or purpose...
We just faced a burning.
Chorus:
Let it burn,
For the sake of replacement
In the face of creation
In the frame of new beginnings, fewer limits, truth and image
To be in it, do we benefit if we
Let it burn
Verse 2: Alexandra
in a place this big
even the slightest of re-calculations
holds degrees to save the day
when the wind blows a chaos or danger
i never shrink but i grow to face her
excavate hurt, undermining comfort findings
brings gold I’ve been holding to light
indecisive whys are too paralyzing
i either wait or confide in trying
always growing so I’m never hiding
out in the open, my wrongs keep me righting
my wrongs keep me writing
slow on the road are those who don’t question
grief or beliefs repeatedly mentioned
distraction at large, what do you own?
they’re burning your home
hold in your mind the moment before
the door to diversion opened
envision missions before the pretense, before your ego
before you pretended and extended explanations
in your defense of pain, erasing the only self
you’ve learned to embrace cause
letting go is a strength too
i know what i covet, i know what i gift
i know what i love and i know what i get
I’m patient, demanding and sometimes a bitch
it’s just what it is
but fanning the flames only ensures more ashes

I have been listening to variations of this album a long time. I remember I was living in a cardboard dumpster when some young guy was like yo dude it's gonna rain come crash on my couch. He played The Many Faces of Oliver Hart for me. I fell in love, I set my favorite track as Rain because we looped it when the rain came. That was one of the early acts of kindness I received in the nearly 20 years I've been homeless. @NomadRoamsFree

Innovative rhythms, current topics and the instrumentals have a cool mix of modern synthesizer sounds and old school samples. So co-signs from industry veterans are cool, but E-Turn doesn't need them to add validity to her skills. Jof
